I ran over to Hurricane High and was going to do some 1000m repeats, did one and about coughed up a lung, so I figured better not push it any more. I've been feeling better the last two days but still have a little sickness. I ended up doing one mile on the track then came home, so a total of 6 miles pretty easy. I think I might have to ease into this week. It will be nice on Thursday I only have school for 4 hours, so maybe I can get in a couple of decent workouts.

On my way over to Hurricane there were lots of emergency vehicles near the bridge. Apparently, a five year old boy fell off the cliff somewhere in the area while he was chasing his dog. I stopped and tried to listen in on the story. Anyway, it really upset me the rest of the run. I have a five year old boy along with a 12 year old and an 18 month old and I just couldn't imagine my life without any of them.

Very busy day, between parent teacher conferences, driver's education, and then scouts, but did manage to get out at 8:30 this evening. I did 3 miles easy 7:45 avg. Then Sunny wanted to go for a few miles, which was awesome. She has been doing about 30 minutes everyday on the treadmill usually doing a walk, jog routine fastest pace being 12:00 minutes. Anyway we did a two mile run over to the bridge and back. The first mile was in 11:48 which included a short walk across the bridge and we were running uphill. Coming back I challenged her to run at least a minute faster. On the way back we did have to stop for just a bit, but she was able to run the second mile in 10:38, so a 1:10 faster. All in all a good two mile run to finish off the day for her.

Ran with the club tonight. Before I left with the group I did a 3 mile warm-up 1.5 miles up state road 18 on the bike path and then 1.5 back down. 7:50 average.

Then did 3 easy miles warm-up and I knew Steve was going to do about 6 miles of tempo pace, and I had been planning on doing about 4 since I haven't done any faster stuff so far this week. I was pretty pleased with the miles I ran at tempo pace. A little disappointed the last few miles as I stopped to get a drink then ran the last bit uphill alone. My legs started to cramp up a bit, but overall a decent run, except for my Hunan's Chinese Buffet from lunch that gave me stomach problems on and off the entire run. Overall average was 7:22 so pretty good.

Tempo miles

1-6:07- feeling pretty relaxed

2-6:14- feeling fine

3-6:28- had to slow down a bit trying to get onto the far way at the golf course

4-6:48- some tough hills to climb here, but the effort felt more like 6:15 or faster.

I think the 13 miles tonight, is the longest run I've done since November, so that is a positive, still I need to be doing more. I really felt like I had two good weeks, then I got sick last week and took a step back. Anyway hoping to hit 50 miles this week and then maybe bump it up a little the following week. By March I would like to be running at least 60 miles a week, and then 70 miles a week in April. I really think if I can be more consistent this spring it will help me have a better base and routine going into the summer, when I can try to run a little higher mileage maybe.

Struggled getting up this morning. I was going to go play basketball but my legs and hips felt pretty sore from the run last night. I'm going to try to do around 8 miles this afternoon.

Got out this afternoon, after taking a nice hour long nap. Anyway, the wind was just terrible. I ran from the house over 600 North Trail to Sky Mountain Golf Course and down to Brentwood Bowling Alley. Felt pretty tight during the run legs and hips very sore. Averge time 8:14 slow, but quite a bit of wind and taking it easy.

Sasha sometimes shares some of his crazy running dreams, and last night I had a pretty weired one. I was back in Colorado going on a run with my old assistant high school coach, (we coached three years together and got along pretty good) Anyway it was in the middle of winter and we were driving out to this place to run down by the river, and for some strange reason the road just seemed to end and we ended up going into the river. Of course I was pretty scared but was able to kick open the door and swim to the bank. However, since it was winter time I was very cold. When we got out of the water, we both took off running as fast as we could to this nearby warehouse. For some strange reason I had a lighter in my pocket and we were able to start a fire and we just started throwing anything we could find into the fire. The next thing I remember in my dream, was the fact the entire building was now on fire and we were still inside. I wasn't even worried about getting out I was just trying to get warm. Anyway, I do remember once we got out all of these high school kids from our team came running, and told us we had taken the wrong turn and they were ready for us to finish the run with them. I just remember saying hey I need to call my dad first and tell him what just happened. I then asked for a cell phone and this was the funny thing, every high school kid had a cell phone on them, some even had two or three. Anyway, it was a pretty crazy dream.

Ok, sorry about rambling now back to my real run today. Club run met and Mike's and drove out on Utah Hill. I haven't done too many long runs and the start of this past week I was still struggling some with sickness, so I figured if I could do at least 12 that would be great, then I will go for 2 more this evening to finish the week at 50. After Thursday's run I was really sore and tight. Yesterday's 8 miles was a struggle, but I spent quite a bit of time stretching last night and even used the stick and this morning I felt pretty good. I ran the first 9 miles in a 7:07 average, with a few miles down in the 6:40's. The last three miles I ran through Santa Clara and slowed down a bit. Overall, a good run, and glad I made the effort to get out and come over, even though I didn't run with anybody (you guys all animals and can run further than me! but someday soon I should be able to hang with the group)
