Got out tonight for a run which was good. I didn't have time to go over and run with the club, due to a scout meeting tonight. Anyway I did a nice easy 6 miler. I ran up by this newer subdivision and met up with a realtor who showed me a few of the homes he has for sale. For the last year Sunny and I have been going back and forth about selling our home, building a new home, staying where we are, or buying a bigger home. Anyway, it was nice I caught up with this guy and he showed me a few of the models. After looking around I took off and finished up the run. I didn't notice too much pain in the hip so that was good.

The last two months I've been struggling with my training and trying to get over this hip injury that has bothered me for much of 2007. Mentally I feel like I'm ready to get back into training on a more consistent basis, I just wish I could get over some of these nagging injuries. Recently, I went back and looked over some of the goals I sat at the beginning of the year.

1. Run 2500 miles- I'm not going to hit this number, but I am going to shoot for 2000 (I'm about 150 miles short right now)

2. Run all community races- I feel like I did a pretty good job of running lots of races this past year. And trying to support the local community. In fact I might be putting on a 10K race in La Verkin in March

3. Improve marathon time to under 2:40- Did not reach this goal, (2:44:59) but feel I should be able to run under 2:40 with a better year of training this coming year.

4. Do the Utah Grand Slam- Was a goal, but something I'm glad I didn't do

5. Run an average of 50 miles a week. Another area where I came up short, but something that a little better effort and scheduling I should easily be able to do.

6. Continue to enjoy running. This was a goal which I met and feel good about. I've really enjoyed running lately and especially meeting new people through racing and the blog.

7. Improve Diet- My diet was pretty good throughout much of the summer and leading up to the marathon. However, much improvement is still needed.

8. Get weight down to 140 lbs- After the marathon I was at 136, and most of the summer I was right around 140 so I was happy with that. Still I think being down around 130-135 would make me a little faster as a runner.

Anyway, these were some of my goals for 2007. From looking back at some of these things, looks like I need to improve on many of them in 2008

Good workout this morning 5 miles.

4 miles tonight up the La Verkin Twist. First two miles uphill 7:30 average. One mile faster downhill 6:10. Last mile easy back home. Felt good to push the third mile a little.

I didn't run on Saturday as my hip was really hurting, so I took Saturday off and of course yesterday. This afternoon I did an easy 2.5 over to the Hurricane Athletic Club and used my free one time coupon to check out the place. I lifted weights for about 25 minutes (mainly worked on my legs) and then rode a stationary bike for another 20 minutes. I liked the place, but I think I'm too cheap to pay the monthly fee, I'm still going to check out a few places in St. George. My chiropractor said I really need to strengthen my ankle and legs muscles, which would help ease some of the stress I've been putting on my hips. Anyway, I did an easy 2.5 miles back home (7:50 ave) So, a decent start to the week.

Boring 5 miles around La Verkin, then over the bridge and then back home. Colder tonight than it has been. Had a pretty stressful day at school, so it was nice to get a short break and go for a run.

Basketball this morning. It was nice only 11 showed up, so I got to play for almost an hour, no sitting or slowing down. I'm planning on coming over and running with the club tonight at 5:00 right?

Good 7 miles tonight with the club out on Snow Canyon Parkway. Not too many there tonight ran the first 3.5 miles with Dave which was nice to chat with him. The last 3.5 I did by myself. Average was 7:35, not bad with about a mile left I missed the step up onto the curb and pulled my groin and leg a little, hopefully not too serious. Still struggling with the hip issue, but will continue to train when I can and feel like it, and rest on the other days.

8.5 miles this morning with some of the guys from the running club. Ran part of the Painter's course. It was pretty cold this morning, but I survived. I was happy with the first 7 miles 7:28 average, then an easy 1.5 back to the car. Not too much hip pain this afternoon, which has been nice.

Another morning of basketball. Planning on running with the club at 5:00. Good run with the club tonight, went down by Green Springs then up past SCMS and back on Snow Canyon Parkway. I pushed one of the miles at a 6:20 pace. The first 4 miles, were also a little faster than my normal easy pace. Was fun to run with the group, also nice Logan was in town.
