Ran the Run 4 Kids 10K this morning over at Coral Canyon. Race was ok, I took 3rd and ran 37:34 (6:02 pace). Last year I ran 38:40 on the same course, so it was nice to see the 1:06 improvement. Steve Olsen won the race, and Steve Hooper was second (he ran a good race, and we worked together the first three miles), Bill was 4th.

1-5:50- felt pretty easy holding back a little, looking back now I probably should have pushed the beginning a little harder, since the end is so hilly and slow

2-5:38- still feeling fine

3-5:57- just hanging with Steve Hooper.

4- 6:10 Steve has picked up the pace a little and I didn't go with him, probably should have tried a little harder, but feel more like I'm just going through the motions and not really racing.

5- 6:45 Here comes the tough hill section, actually was a lot easier this year compared to last year. I just felt stronger and managed to make it up the hill in decent shape. Still don't feel like I'm racing though. At this point Steve has put about 30 seconds on me and I'm feeling no buring desire to try to catch him at this point.

6- 6:21 Finally make it to the end of the hill, once I hit the stop light and turn toward the downhill to finish I felt great, really picked it up the last half mile.

.16- 48 Happy to finish and really feeling pretty good. Like I said I felt good about the improvement from last year and was also happy for the other guys. Steve Hooper didn't get to ran last year because of IT band problems, so it has been nice to have him back, and Bill also improved his time by over a minute. The fast guys from the club are both out in Boston good luck Dave and Clyde.

Good work. Are the splits off the GPS?

Hey Dustin, I got your message about running Ogden Marathon. I think I'm going to hold off on the Spring Marathon season due to timing and I also really want to focus on getting my speed up to where I really want to be.

Also, as of right now I'm still in the 40 miles per week. I would really need to jump that up to run a spring marathon and enjoy myself.
